Today was mostly uneventful. Cora taught me some of the stories behind Chinese characters. One example that comes to mind is the character for 'man.'(男) The top part of the character represents a field and the bottom part of the character is the character that means 'power' when it stands alone. Hence, men have power over the field/land. We also talked about the one I remember from my Chinese class in college. The word for 'home' (家) is a picture of a pig under a roof. Remember they used to keep livestock in the home.
Tonight at IEBF we worked on presenting bad news in business via the direct and indirect method.
I got a sweet card from friends at home with this quote, "You make me smile all over my face.--Ian Hobson, Age 5." Cute. So, may you smile all over your face as well today.
